Gogona


Gogona is a small hamlet on the popular trekking trail in Bhutan. The 16-km trek can be started from the town of Gangtey. It takes around 6-7 hours of easy walking. The trail to Gogona village takes through the meadows and fields, ascending to Tsele La Pass (3400m). The gradually descending walk passes through the forest of junipers, bamboo, magnolias and rhododendrons, finally a short climb to Gogona (3,100m) the hilltop mountain village overlooking the beautiful valley.

To get to Gogona, there are two options, either drive of trek. The trek is the most popular way to explore the picturesque hamlet. The people of Bhutanese village were originally nomads and they speak language called Bjop-kha.  Their weaving skills are noteworthy and make for amazing handicrafts and souvenirs to take home. Nearby the hamlet is Gogona Lhakhang where you can witness dozens of poles with white prayer flags fluttering in the wind.
