One of the very special places to stay in Kerala, Philip Kutty's Farm, in Kottayam, about 50 kms from Cochin, is set on a private island in the backwaters of Kerala. This family run farm offers the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful homestay experience. The working farm, which practices sustainable / organic methods of farming, is two metres below the lake level and has coconut, toddy, nutmeg, banana, cocoa and pepper cultivation , besided fish and prawn farming. The resident hosts offer cooking demos and farm tours. Staying in one of the 5 cottages by the lake, you will be well looked after by the family and home cooked meals are served communally either in the dining room or al fresco in the courtyard. There is little to do in the terms of facilities but for peace and relaxation Philip Kutty's Farm is perfect!
